XING MOBILITY SELECTS 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO TO SHOWCASE EV BATTERY SOLUTIONS

·  XING Mobility have presented a modular drivetrain system solution complete with immersion cooling battery technology and integrated motor systems.

·  The system was showcased this week at AutoTronics Taipei 2019, revealing it’s versality, durability, long life and high power density, even in a 50-year-old classic convertible.

Taipei, Taiwan 4/24/2019 –XING Mobility, a provider of automotive-grade electric vehicle (EV) battery and powertrain technology for specialty vehicle applications, have exhibited their modularized and fully-integrated electric conversion capabilities in a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro at the AutoTronics Taipei 2019 trade show in Taiwan this week.

Designed to showcase the incredibly flexible configuration capabilities of their Immersion Cooled Modular Battery Pack System and integrated propulsion technologies, the vehicle’s battery pack is built from a unique micro-module which is stacked and interlocked to meet diverse size and shape requirements. One of a series of side projects that XING Mobility has initiated to demonstrate their ability to supply Dynamic Power on Demand™ to every and any vehicle maker, the classic Camaro has a battery pack comprised of 106 modules (4452 Lithium-ion 18650 cells) that fits within the existing engine space of the vehicle without requiring any modifications to the original bodywork.

The system is one of the only packs in the world to utilize immersion cooling, an innovative solution to thermal management challenges that submerges cells directly in non-conductive fluid to effectively and efficiently manage high heat during charge and discharge cycles. The immersion cooling method is a prime factor in achieving the battery’s extremely high performance, as well as significantly improving the battery life and allowing for high speed charging.

XING Mobility supplies the immersion cooling battery system to specialty vehicle manufacturers, complete with fully connected accessories and powertrain components, to act as a plug-and-play or “drop-in” replacement for existing engines or powertrains. The battery pack’s connected accessories include built-in battery management systems and active safety systems, as well as advanced cooling kits and power distribution technology. This solution enables vehicle makers with or without previous experience of EV systems to install and connect power in a matter of hours.

Additionally, with the immersion cooling fluid containing fire suppression properties, the pack features in-built, fire-resistant properties, which immediately dissipates any heat arising from cell-to-cell thermal runaway or damage whether through defective cells or damage to the pack. This feature, in addition to proprietary operation algorithms built into the pack, creates extremely safe installation and operating conditions for user of the battery system. This safety feature is particularly appealing for small-medium sized companies and their customers who don’t necessarily have Tesla-sized budgets and resources to build safety systems into their lithium battery packs.

Royce YC Hong, CEO and Co-founder of XING Mobility describes the showcase project as the embodiment of “play is the highest form of research” – advice originally coined by Albert Einstein. “With extremely flexible and widespread configuration and re-configuration possibilities, the technology is primed for manufacturers with a high-mix of vehicle models, or customers with large investments in existing fleets, vehicle designs or tooling. However, once in a while, it’s fun to work on a unique project like the conversion Camaro, and conversion projects are a great opportunity for us to test the technology on multiple platforms and ensure our integrated systems meet the automotive-grade standards of our customers”.

While XING Mobility use their work on Miss R, the company’s 1 Megawatt supercar, and conversion side projects to strengthen and harness their R&D capabilities, XING Mobility’s core focus is on delivering EV drivetrain technology and engineering services to commercial, industrial and recreational vehicle makers worldwide. Last year, the company delivered Dynamic Power on Demand™ solutions to several commercial customers, including a construction vehicle, a small recreational boat, an all-terrain vehicle, a 3.5ton delivery van and a small delivery scooter.
